Capcom has shared a new developer diary for Resident Evil Requiem. The video runs for eight minutes and includes the team behind the game. Director Koshi Nakanishi, art director Tomonori Takano, and producers Masachika Kawata and Masato Kumazawa talk about the game’s design, story, and tone.
Resident Evil Requiem brings a new kind of fear with Grace Ashcroft
Resident Evil Requiem is built around “addictive fear.” The team says horror is at the centre of everything. Players will feel the tension from the very start.

The diary also introduces Grace Ashcroft. She’s the new lead in the series. Grace is an FBI analyst. She’s quiet, nervous, and not a typical Resident Evil hero. But she’s smart, trained in firearms, and uses logic to survive. The developers want players to feel the fear through her eyes. As the game progresses, Grace learns to push through her fears.

Capcom has gone all in on realism. Grace’s face turns red when she hangs upside down. Her hair moves naturally. A real wig was used as a reference for this. These small details make the experience feel more human and believable.

The game lets you switch between first- and third-person views at any time. First-person mode is more tense and immersive. Third-person offers more control and action. Players can pick how they want to experience the horror.
Resident Evil Requiem takes place 30 years after the Raccoon City disaster. It’s a tribute to the people affected by the original outbreak. Some died. Others were changed forever. This story acts as a farewell and a reminder. It also comes just before the series turns 30 in March 2026.

The game launches on 27 February 2026. It’s coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox, and PC via Steam. Grace’s story is about fear, growth, and survival. And it looks like fans are in for a chilling ride.
